Commitment Required:
Getting started:
The FIBT (Federation Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing) holds seasonal bob and skeleton schools to provide athletes from all nations the opportunity to learn basic driving/sliding skills. These training sessions, held over a number of days at tracks in Europe and North America, focus on novice drivers and provide expert instruction for beginners.
Training: Individual conditioning and speed training is required at least four days per week.
Competition:
The yearly race circuit (October - February) consists of as many as seven races
held at various venues throughout Europe, North America and Japan. In addition,
there are World and European Championships every season. Israel currently has
one team on the men's FIBT circuit. The summer serves as a period of intensive
conditioning work, and is also a busy time for push start competitions, which
culminate with the World Push Championships.
